Elyse S. Rubenstein, M.D.
Dr. Rubenstein is a board-certified general psychiatrist of over 30 years, with a subspecialty certification in addiction medicine. She works predominantly with adults of all ages and older adolescents to assess and address their mental health needs. She utilizes both psychotherapy and psychiatric medication treatment to treat her patients based on their needs and preferences. She views her relationships with her patients as collaborative and highly individualized, informed by her belief that there is no "one size fits all" in quality mental health care.
Her approach tends to be holistic, with significant emphasis on practical strategies and lifestyle modifications (predominantly diet and exercise) to achieve overall wellness. She is particularly passionate about animal welfare and may incorporate her rescue animals into sessions with patients if they so desire.

In recent years, she has strongly connected pregnancy and addiction as areas of expertise; among other things, this has included starting a pregnancy support program within an addiction treatment center.
Dr. Rubenstein offers comprehensive assessment of Substance Use Disorders and co-occurring mental health issues, with the intention of guiding individuals towards lasting recovery and improved quality of life. She has found that a multi-pronged and collaborative approach to treatment is most often required and, as such, she is also very well-versed in the state-of-the-art medication options available to help facilitate abstinence from concerning substances.
